Truly Authentic Welland

Truly authentic in the heart of picturesque Niagara

Welcome to the City of Welland, one of the genuinely authentic recreational canal cities in Canada, with the Welland Recreation Corridor running through the city’s downtown core. Located in the heart of the picturesque Niagara Region, Welland is just minutes from neighbouring cities.

Visitors are attracted to the area’s natural beauty, as they enjoy our annual festivals, downtown restaurants, heritage buildings, waterfront music concerts, multi-cultural attractions, year-round sports competitions, and outdoor events.

Known for scenic cycling paths and the Welland International Flatwater Centre (WIFC), which hosts major international sporting events, Welland is Niagara’s sport-tourism destination. We look forward to hosting the 2022 Summer Games, along with Niagara, and bringing Canadian athletes to our city.

Whether you are a sports enthusiast, naturalist, cultural adventurer, music lover, or history buff, Welland offers something for everyone. Come discover Welland.

Getting Here

Located in the heart of Niagara – and a quick drive to Niagara Falls and the United States Border – Welland, Ontario is a city to discover. You will find us on route with the Niagara Green Belt and connected to the Greater Niagara Circle Route. Cycling here is more of an adventure than a journey.

Welland is easy enough to find via car, bus, train, or plane. Toronto’s GO Train comes to Niagara every morning from Monday to Friday and regularly visits in the summer. Niagara also has a regional transit that connects with Welland Transit, making your trip here hassle-free.

Niagara is recognized for its breathtaking wineries, and roadside fruit stands. We often receive visitors from the Greater Toronto/Hamilton Area who make a weekly trip to our authentic Farmers’ Market. We are also a member of the Network of Francophone and Francophile Cities, which connects a trail of Francophone cities across North America.

We invite you to visit us and discover one of Canada’s most authentic canal cities in the centre of beautiful Niagara.
